Lesson 11 Practice Test

To participate in the PGP, you will be asked to electronically complete a traits questionnaire concerning such topics as your current medications, medical history, allergies, and vital signs. The full list of personal information required for enrollment will be available at the project website.

In addition to the traits questionnaire, you will be asked to specify the amount you would like to pledge to the project. Donations are encouraged but not required. If you are selected to continue to the next stage, you will be asked to submit a tissue sample such as hair and/or saliva.

Scientists will perform DNA sequencing on the tissue samples and use them to study biological characteristics, DNA, RNA (gene expression), physical traits, and the presence and characteristics of micro-organisms in the specimen sample. Scientists may also attempt to create a living tissue sample known as a cell line. Cell lines provide a renewable supply of your cells and DNA.
